Mother of the Virgin Mary and the grandmother of our Savior, Anne taught Mary about both the spiritual and material worlds, and, since she she was a housewife, she has many patronages related to the home. The French are especially devoted to her, because, according to an old tradition, she was originally a princess from Brittany who lived in Judea but returned home to die.

Other patronages: Brittany, Canada, Detroit, France, Quebec; broom makers, cabinetmakers, carpenters, equestrians, glovers, housewives, junk dealers, miners, seamstresses; childless people, grandmothers, women with child.

Saint Anne is invoked against difficult births, infertility, poverty and thunderstorms.
