THE CATHOLIC CHILD AND THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

My dear Child:

The Blessed Virgin is your Mother in Heaven.

She loves you because her Son, Jesus, loves you and has died for you.

She is anxious to help you. You may be sure that she will hear your prayers.

She is powerful with Jesus. He will not refuse her anything she asks.

Is it not wonderful to have this lovely Queen of Heaven for your Mother?

You must try to show her that you love her.

Pray to her every day. Let her sweet name and that of Jesus be first on your lips n the morning and last at night.

Wear the Scapular and Miraculous Medal. It is a sign that you are hers.

Say her Rosary. It is a wreath of beautiful roses which you can lay at her feet.

Imitate her virtues. Try to avoid the least sin; be humble and obedient, and love Jesus with all your soul.

O Mary, Model of pure love, and therefore of sweethearts, I beseech thee to direct me in my choice of a future husband. Grant me especially wisdom and deliberation in this choice. Make both my friendship and courtship chaste, unselfish, prudent, thrifty, and cheerful. Be my companion in single as well as in wedded life.

SIX RULES
For a Happy and Successful Friendship and Courtship

1. Receive our Lord in Holy Communion every Sunday for strength to be
and act like a Christlike lady.
2. Pray to the Blessed Mother every day to grow in faith, and in prayerfulness.
3. Imitate Mary the Virgin in her modesty, in the sweetness of her charity, her womanly way.
4. Be rich in womanly interests and womanly skills, cooking, sewing, nursing, and homemaking.
5. Try to grow up. Learn to save. Know when to speak and when to keep silent.
6. Strive for an esteem of the Sacrament of Marriage and of your God-given calling as Wife and Mother
in building a happy Catholic marriage and a happy Catholic home.
