Third Secret Update, At Last
by Pauly
Fongemie
For some years now those of us
who are supporters of the "Fatima Priest", Fr. Nicholas Gruner, whose
unremitting efforts on behalf of the Mother of God who came to Fatima
as a last act of mercy to a sin-ravaged world, whose labors of
sacrificial love have been to endure the insults, calumny and other
degradations
from woefully ignorant fellow Catholics because he seeks to have the
Consecration of Russia to Mary's Immaculate Heart finally done, not the
Consecration of the World, but Russia, have been told we are nuts to
believe him, her special servant. In a much lesser way, acutely
minimal in comparison, his trials have become ours. It has been a
frustrating time to say the least, as the years grew into decades and
the Vatican has insisted that all was well, if only we would shut up,
so to speak. The enemies of Christ and His holy Mother and those who
unwittingly do their bidding had only to point to the Holy See as proof
that we were extremists, alarmists, with nary a worthwhile argument to
make and this being the case, we were an embarrassment to them. In
other words, our insistence on the need for the Consecration of Russia, and not the World,
made them uncomfortable. If we were really the cranks they have
attempted to make us out to be they would have long ago merely turned
away as most sane people do when confronted with buffoons. After all,
ignoring a crank is the simplest method of disposal. The fact that
their complaints became more shrill as our persistence never waned
spoke volumes, in truth were a sort of vindication since some of us
sensed that the opposition was fearful that perhaps there might be some
truth to our claims: "the truth will out"! Never more true was this
operation of human nature more noticeable than after the debacle of the
so-called release of the Third Secret.
Now Catholics obeying their rightly formed conscience guided by
devotion to the Rosary and Our Lady need no vindication as such, for
this would be a form of pride, a vice we must always spurn as dangerous
to the attainment of salvation. This being said, we needed something to
open the eyes of those so misled, for their own sakes and for the sake
of the world, not ours, because we love Our Lady and want to serve her
as she deserves to be, because she is the Mother of Mercy and loves us
poor sinners exceedingly. So it is a most momentous time because help
from a most unlikely source appears to be forthcoming:
In
November of 2006, Antonio Socci’s Il Quarto Segreto di Fatima [The Fourth
Secret of Fatima], was
released in Italy. The author, who was a skeptic and wanted to disprove
the claims of traditional Fatima devotees that the Consecration of
Russia was not done as requested and that the Third Secret was not
fully divulged. After an extensive investigation, the author concluded
that the Vatican has not formally released the entire Third
Secret, and
that the Consecration is yet to be done.
As John Vennari, editor of Catholic Family News wrote in
his January, 2007 article on the new book:
The importance of this book cannot be
overemphasized. Mr. Socci is a famous, mainstream Italian author and TV
anchor man, not associated with any "traditionalist" group. In fact, he
began the project firmly believing the Vatican had released the entire
Secret on June 26, 2000. Yet the more he investigated, the more he
became convinced that the entire Secret was not revealed. . . . Socci writes in the book's Introduction that he
was intrigued by an article published by Italian journalist Vittorio
Messori at the time of Sister Lucy's death: "The Fatima Secret, the
Cell of Sister Lucy Has Been Sealed". Here Messori spoke of the many
writings and "Letters to the Popes" that Sister Lucy would have left in
her cell. Messori then mentioned the Vatican’s June 26, 2000 revelation
of the secret “which instead of solving the mystery, has opened other
ones: regarding its interpretations, its contents, and about the
completeness of the revealed text.”
This launched a burst of questions in Socci’s
mind. Why would Messori, "a great journalist, extremely precise . . .
the most translated Catholic columnist in the world", cast such
suspicion on the Vatican? How could a person like Messori, so close to
the Vatican ambient, be persuaded that the official version of the
Third Secret was not convincing?
This was especially puzzling because five years
previously, with the release of the Vision of the Secret, Messori
expressed no reservations about what the Vatican published. Now he
seems to have doubts. Now he seems to have questions.
Socci responded by engaging in a courteous
journalist dispute with Messori in which Socci defended the Vatican
position. But then, says Socci, "I was hit by an article written by a
young Catholic writer, Solideo Paoloni", which appeared in a
traditionalist magazine that entered the debate between Socci and
Messori.
Socci says Paolini "listed a series of arguments
against the official Vatican version (which was mine too, at the
time)." Paolini argued that the Vatican is still holding the principle
part of the Third Secret from being revealed "due to its explosive
content". Mr. Paolini had researched the subject of Fatima intensely,
and had written a book on the Third Secret, Fatima, Don't Despise Prophecies, which was published in Italy. To his own surprise,
Socci found Paolini's arguments worthy of consideration.
Mr. Socci expresses his view that it was a mistake
of the Curia and the Catholic media to ignore the challenge of
traditional Catholics who argue that the Third Secret was not fully
released. "For instance", he writes, "in the book edited by Father Paul
Kramer [The Devil's Final Battle] which reunited the works and articles of various
authors, there is the denouncement of the failure by the Vatican to
heed the requests of Our Lady of Fatima, and it is affirmed that the
price of indecision in the Vatican could well be extremely high and
will be paid by mankind." . . .
Socci’s misgivings only intensified when he sought
answers from the Vatican hierarchy, especially, from Cardinal Bertone,
who had coauthored with Cardinal Ratzinger the June 26, 2000 document
on the Secret, "The Message of Fatima".
Socci writes, "I've searched many influential
authorities inside the Curia, like Cardinal Bertone, today Secretary of
State in the Vatican, who was central to the publication of the Secret
in 2000 . . . The Cardinal, who actually favored me with his personal
consideration, having asked me to conduct conferences in his former
diocese of Genoa, didn't deem it necessary to answer my request for an
interview. He was within his rights to make this choice, of course, but
this only increased the fear of the existence of embarrassing
questions, and most of all, that there is something (extremely
important) which needs to be kept hidden."
He closes his Introduction saying that he had not
expected to find such a "colossal Enigma" regarding the Third Secret.
And while he may not subscribe to each and every theory on this subject
contained in traditionalist literature, "in the end I had to
surrender", he said, to the conclusion that there exist two texts of
the Secret, one of which has yet to be revealed to the world.

We know from experts faithful
in devotion to Our Lady, such as the late Cardinal Oddi of the Roman
Curia, the late Father Joaquin Alonso, the official archivist at Fatima
for sixteen years, the late Bishop Amaral, the third Bishop of Fatima,
and
Cardinal Ciappi, personal theologian to Pope John Paul II, who spoke of
the contents of the Third Secret that:
"It has nothing to do with Gorbachev. The Blessed Virgin was alerting
us against the apostasy in the Church." [Oddi]
"It is therefore completely probable that the text makes concrete
references to the crisis of faith within the Church and to the
negligence of the pastors themselves [and the] internal struggles in
the very bosom of the Church and of grave pastoral negligence of the
upper hierarchy . . .
"In the period preceding the great triumph of the Immaculate Heart of
Mary, terrible things are to happen. These form the content of the
third part of the Secret. What are they? If 'in Portugal the dogma of
the Faith will always be preserved,' . . . it can be clearly
deduced from this that in other parts of the Church these dogmas are
going to become obscure or even lost altogether. . . .
"Does the unpublished text speak of concrete circumstances? It is very
possible that it speaks not only of a real crisis of the faith in the
Church during this in-between period, but like the secret of La
Salette, for example, there are more concrete references to the
internal struggles of Catholics or to the fall of priests and
religious. Perhaps it' even refers to the failures of the upper
hierarchy of the Church. For that matter, none of this is foreign to
other communications Sister Lucy has had on this subject." [Alonso]
"Its content concerns only our faith. To identify the [Third] Secret
with catastrophic announcements or with a nuclear holocaust is to
deform the meaning of the message. The loss of faith of a continent is
worse than the annihilation of a nation; and it is true that faith is
continually diminishing in Europe." [Amaral]
"In the Third Secret it is foretold, among other things, that the great
apostasy in the Church begins at the top." [Ciappi]
Furthermore, the reigning Pontiff, Benedict XVI, while Cardinal
Ratzinger, said that the Third Secret was about the apostasy. Later
when his hands were tied he went along with the modernists in power in
a moment of weakness, changing his line, meaning, he was duplicitous
the second time he commented which was to deny what he earlier revealed
about the Third Secret, and unless
he receives and accepts, that is, acts on extraordinary graces from
God, human pride may prevent him from admitting the fraudulent
circumvention of Our Lady's wishes.
What can the faithful do, in the face of a still silent Vatican whose
highest authorities have deliberately deceived us? We can continue to
ask for the Consecration and to make certain that we are devoted to the
Two Hearts of Jesus and Mary and obey the requests of Our Lady for
prayer and reparation to save sinners, including ourselves; by now the
apostasy in the Church, the corruption of dogma and morals in the
highest places is so apparent that only someone who wills to be blind
could not see it for what it is. Any lingering doubts, if that were
possible, would be dispensed with by the documentation provided by the
eminent researcher and writer, Randy Engel, in her sweeping book on the
Homosexual Collective, The Rite of Sodomy----anti-Marian
to its core among other evils----that
has colonized, terrorized even, certainly ruthlessly held almost
unchallenged sway in the Church for the last century. We must pray very
much and make sacrifices, for the Pope and the bishops and priests.
Prayers are provided below. A booklet from the Fatima Center provides
the following reminders, which we can never have enough of:
The Devotion of Reparation: A Secret of Mercy for Sinners
After enumerating the five
blasphemies which gravely offend His Most Holy Mother, Our Lord gave
Sister Lucy the decisive explanation which allows us to penetrate into
the secret of Her Immaculate Heart, which overflows with mercy for all
sinners, even those who scorn and outrage Her:
"See, My daughter; the
motive for which the Immaculate Heart of Mary inspired Me to ask for
this little Reparation, and in consideration of it, to move My mercy to
pardon souls who have had the misfortune of offending Her: As for you,
always seek by your prayers and sacrifices to move My mercy to pity for
these poor souls."
"The
Sin Against the Holy Spirit"
Here we have one of the
principal themes of the Message of Fatima: since God has decided to
manifest more and more His great design of love, which is to grant all
graces to men through the mediation of the Immaculate Virgin, it seems
that their refusal to submit with docility to what God wills is the
fault which most gravely wound His Heart, and for which He no longer
find in Himself any inclination to pardon them. This sin seems
unforgivable, because for Our Savior there is no crime more
unpardonable than to despise His Most Holy Mother, and "to outrage Her
Immaculate Heart, which is the Sanctuary of the Holy Spirit This is
committing 'the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, which will not be
forgiven in this world or in the next'."
In 1929, in the apparition of
Tuy which is the final fulfillment of Fatima, Our Lady will conclude
the extraordinary manifestation of the Holy Trinity with these striking
words: "So many are the souls which the justice of God condemns for
sins
committed against Me that I come to ask for Reparation. Sacrifice
yourself for this intention and pray."
War
and Peace Depend on Communions of Reparation
In fact, in addition to the
conversion of sinners and our own eternal salvation, Our Lady has
willed that the Communion of Reparation be linked to another magnificent promise: the gift
of peace. On March 19, 1939, Sister Lucy wrote: "Whether the world has
war or peace depends on the practice of this devotion, along with the
consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. This is why I desire its
propagation so ardently, especially because this is also the will of
our dear Mother in Heaven." And on June 20 of the same year, she wrote:
"Our Lady promised to put off
the scourge of war, if this devotion was propagated and practiced. We
see that She will obtain remission of this chastisement to the extent
that efforts are made to propagate this devotion; but I fear that we
can do more than we are doing and that God, being displeased, will pull
back the arm of His mercy and let the world be ravaged by this
chastisement which will be unlike any other in the past, horrible,
horrible."
The Request for the Consecration of
Russia
On July 13, 1917 as we saw in
the second part of the Secret, Our Lady told Lucy that later on She
would come back to ask for the Consecration of Russia to Her Immaculate
Heart. Our Lady did return for this request as promised.
On June 13, 1929, Sister Lucy
was in her convent chapel in Tuy, Spain, a city on the border of
Portugal. Sister Lucy herself left a description of the event, and so
we quote her account at length, adding only a few subtitles. Sister
Lucy wrote:
"At this time Our Lord
informed me that the moment had come when He willed for me to make
known to the Holy Church His desire for the Consecration of Russia and
His promise to convert It . . . The communication took place in
this way":
The
Holy Hour of Adoration and Reparation:
13/06/29----"I
had requested and
obtained permission from my superiors and confessor to make the Holy
Hour from 11:00 p.m. until midnight from Thursday to Friday.
"Being alone one night, I
knelt down before the Communion rail in the middle of the chapel to say
the Prayers of the Angel, lying prostrate.
Feeling tired, I got up and
knelt, and continued to say them with my arms in the form of a cross.
The only light came from the sanctuary lamp."
A
Spectacular Trinitarian Theophany:
"Suddenly a supernatural light
illumined the whole chapel and on the altar appeared a Cross of light
which reached to the ceiling.
VIEW AN IMAGE OF OUR LADY
"In a brighter part could be
seen, on the upper part of the Cross, the face of a Man and His Body to
the waist;
"On His breast was an equally
luminous dove,
"And nailed to the Cross, the
Body of another Man.
"A little below the waist,
suspended in mid-air, was to be seen a Chalice and a large Host onto
which fell some drops of Blood from the Face of the Crucified and from
a wound in His breast These drops ran down over the Host and fell into
the Chalice.
"Under the right arm of the
Cross was Our Lady with Her Immaculate Heart in Her hand... (It was Our
Lady of Fatima with Her Immaculate Heart . . . in Her left
hand . . . without
a sword or roses, but with a crown of thorns and flames . . .)
"Under the left arm (of the
Cross), some big letters, as it were of crystal clear water running
down over the altar, formed these words: 'Grace and Mercy'.
"I understood that it was the
mystery of the Most Holy Trinity that was shown to me, and I received
lights about this mystery which I am not permitted to reveal."
The
Request for the Consecration of Russia:
"Then Our Lady said to me:
'The moment has come when God asks the Holy Father to make, in union
with all the bishops of the world, the Consecration of Russia to My
Immaculate Heart, promising to save it by this means.
'So numerous are the souls
which the justice of God condemns for sins committed against Me, that I
come to ask for Reparation. Sacrifice yourself for this intention and
pray.'
"I gave an account of this to
my confessor, who ordered me to write what Our Lord willed to be done."
The
Terrible Revelation of Summer 1931 "They Did Not Want to Heed My
Request"
Since the Pope and his
advisors chose, for two years, to ignore the words of Our Lady of
Fatima explicitly stating the Most Solemn Request of God to consecrate
Russia, Jesus, Himself, spoke to Sister Lucy in Rianjo, Spain, in
August 1931.
First of all let us quote from
Sister Lucy's letter of August 29, 1931, where the seer passes on to
her bishop this message, which is of highest importance in the economy
of the Message of Fatima:
"My confessor orders me to
inform Your Excellency of what took place a little while ago between
the Good Lord and myself: as I was asking God for the conversion of
Russia, Spain and Portugal, it seemed to me that His Divine Majesty
said to me:
'You console Me a great deal
by asking Me for the conversion of those poor nations. Ask it also of
My Mother frequently, saying: Sweet Heart of Mary, be the salvation of Russia, Spain,
Portugal, Europe and the whole world At other times say: By your pure
and Immaculate Conception, O Mary, obtain for me the conversion of
Russia, Spain, Portugal, Europe and the entire World.' Then Jesus said:
'Make it known to My
ministers, that given they follow the example of the King of France in
delaying the execution of My request, that they will follow him into
misfortune. It will never be too late to have recourse to Jesus and
Mary.'
"Later on, by means of an
interior communication, Our Lord complainingly said to me:
'They did not want to heed My
request. Like the King of France they will repent and do so, but it
will be late. Russia will already have spread her errors throughout the
world, causing wars and persecutions of the Church. The Holy Father
will have much to suffer!"
The Fatima Message
Explains:
Jesus Wants Devotion to the Sacred
Heart Joined to Devotion to the Immaculate Heart
In various parts of the Fatima Message, devotion to the Sacred Heart is
promoted with devotion to the Immaculate Heart.
The
Message of the Angel of Fatima
First there are the words of
the Angel of Peace in the spring of 1916 to the 3 children of Fatima:
"The Hearts of Jesus and Mary
are attentive to the voice of your supplications."
Then he speaks again in the
summer of 1916:
"The Holy Hearts of Jesus and
Mary have merciful designs for you." Then in the autumn of 1916, he
dictates a prayer which in part says:
"And I draw upon the infinite
merits of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary
that you might convert poor sinners."
This theme of the Sacred
Hearts of Jesus and Mary, in the Fatima Message, is also seen in the
apparitions of Jesus and Mary to Sister Lucy at Pontevedra and Tuy
noted above.
This same theme is seen in the
prayers Jesus dictated for us to say in honor of the Pure and
Immaculate Conception of Our Lady as well as the prayer to the Sweet
Heart of Mary given at Rianjo.
Jesus Addresses This Subject
Explicitly:
But the most striking message
about the importance of joining the Devotion to the Sacred Heart of
Jesus with that of the Devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary is seen
in the dialogue of Jesus with Sister Lucy in 1936. We quote here
directly from Sister Lucy's letter of May 18, 1936 to her spiritual
director who had asked her several questions. She replies:
"About the other questions, if
it will be convenient to insist in order to obtain the Consecration of
Russia? I answer in almost the same way as I answered the other times.
I am sorry that it has not been done yet, but the same God Who asked
for
it, is the One Who permitted it. I am going to say what I feel about
it, although it is too delicate a subject to talk about in a letter,
due to the danger of it getting lost and being read, but I entrust it
to the same God, because I am afraid I have not treated the matter with
enough clarity.
"Is it convenient to insist? I
don't know. It seems to me that if the Holy Father did it right now,
God would accept it, and would fulfill His promise; and without any
doubt, through this act, the Holy Father would gladden Our Lord and the
Immaculate Heart of Mary. (Her letter continues:)
(Lucy) "Intimately I have
spoken to Our Lord about the subject, and not too long ago I asked Him
why He would not convert Russia without the Holy Father making that
Consecration?
(Jesus) 'Because I want My
whole Church to acknowledge that Consecration as a triumph of the
Immaculate Heart of Mary, so that it may extend its cult later on, and
put the Devotion to My Mother's Immaculate Heart beside the Devotion to
My Sacred Heart.'
"But My God, the Holy Father
probably won't believe me, unless You Yourself move him with a special
inspiration."
'The Holy Father: Pray very
much for the Holy Father: He will do it, but it will be late! . . .
Nevertheless the Immaculate Heart of Mary will save Russia. It has been
entrusted to Her.'
Prayer
for the Church
O Holy Spirit, Creator, Spouse
of Mary, be gracious to Thy Catholic Church. By Thy Heavenly Power,
make it strong and secure against the attacks of its enemies, within
and
without. Renew in charity and grace the spirit of Thy servants, whom
Thou
has anointed that they may glorify Thee and the Father, and His
only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ, Our Lord.
Mary Immaculate Virgin, Mother
of God and our Mother, Thou seest how the Catholic Faith is assailed by
the devil and the world, that Faith in which we propose, by the help of
God, to live and die. To Thee we entrust our firm purpose of never
joining assemblies of heretics or secret societies. Do Thou, All Holy
Virgin Mother of God, offer to Thy Divine Son our resolutions and
obtain from Him the graces necessary for us to keep them unto the end.
Amen.
Mary, Help of Christians, pray
for us.
Prayer
for the Holy Father
Let us pray for our Holy
Father, Pope N.
May the Lord preserve him and
give him life and make him to be blessed upon the earth and deliver him
not up to the will of his enemies.
Prayer
for Bishops and Priests
Sacred Heart of Jesus, Divine
and Eternal High Priest, let the life-giving waters of Thy love flow
into the hearts of Thy Bishops and Priests and transform them into
living images of Thee. By Thy grace make them true apostles of Thy
Sacred Heart.
Save souls through Thy Bishops
and Priests; accompany them through life. Give them the special grace
of drawing sinners to Thy Sacred Heart, Refuge of sinners, that they
may find forgiveness and salvation.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I pray
for the fulfillment of this promise which Thou didst make to Saint
Margaret Mary: "I will give to priests the gift of touching the most
hardened hearts." May Thy Kingdom come to the hearts of men through the
activity of truly saintly Bishops and Priests.
Do Thou, O Mary, Mother of the
High Priest, protect all Bishops and Priests from dangers to their holy
vocations. May Thine Immaculate Heart be their refuge and consolation
during temptations, trials and loneliness, that we may soon see "all
things restored in Christ."
We know that to combat the
spiritual terror assailing Holy Mother Church in our time, the
Incarnate Wisdom sent the Immaculate Heart of Mary to Fatima to help
us, counsel us, enlighten us, and protect all the faithful of Jesus
Christ, so that we could save our own soul and the souls of those that
God puts on our path.
We acknowledge that the
Blessed Virgin also gave a most important request to the Pope and the
Bishops to solemnly and publicly, on the same day, consecrate
specifically Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. We pray that they
all will receive the necessary grace to do this duty soon, so that we
can attain worldwide peace and die salvation of billions of souls now.
Amen.
Jesus, Savior of the world,
sanctify Thy priests and sacred ministers. Mary, Queen of the Clergy,
pray for them and for us; Obtain for us many and holy Bishops and
Priests.
