Page 24: ------------------------------------- OUR LADY'S APPEAL TO SOULS: ARE YOU DOING THE FOLLOWING? Our Lady of Fatima's message is foremost to save sinners from Hell, and to strengthen and renew the faith and zeal of Catholics so as to draw souls to God. She first gave this explicit direction to the seers on July 13, 1917, when she showed them a vision of Hell, saying: " You have seen Hell where the souls of poor sinners go. To save them, God wishes to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart. If what I say to you is done, many souls will be saved and there will be peace . . . " Are we doing our part, in gratitude for the graces of Her Immaculate Heart, is there something more we could do in our daily lives to further the advance of Our Lady's message, either in our personal devotions, or to help others find that light, strength and comfort which Our Lady has brought to us? The stakes are high, very high, for they are concerned with Heaven, all of eternity. There is no exit from Hell. For, as Father Alonso explains in his pamphlet, The Message of Fatima at Pontevedra, (1974) "it is necessary to insist that the consecration of Russia will only take place as the fruit of the generalized and intense consecration of all the members and all the communities of the Church. That is why----as Pope Pius XII [and Pope Paul VI] well understood and expressed it----it is necessary to exhort the faithful to carry out their personal consecration and to live it intensely. It is that which is the best means of hastening the hour of the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and the coming of the kingdom of God on earth" (p. 38). Here is a list, a kind of examen to keep in our hearts as we go about our daily duties: Am I seeking to sanctify my life by daily consecrating all my thoughts, words and acts to the Immaculate Heart of Mary? Am I doing all I can to live the message of Our Lady of Fatima, day by day? By: Do I say the Rosary every day, as requested by Our Lady of Fatima? Do I try to encourage others to adopt this devotion? Have I completed the Five First Saturdays devotion as requested by Our Lady at Pontevedra on December 10, 1925? Do I honor Our Lady by putting up a worthy image or picture of her in my home, and by saying my Rosary and other devotions to her before it, so as to call to mind her pefections and Motherly care? Do I encourage my family and others to do the same? Do offer up all my daily duties as conscientiously as possible, in a spirit of prayer, penance and reparation? Do I make sacrifices as often as possible, and say, when doing so: "O my Jesus, it is for love of Thee, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for the offenses against the Immaculate Heart of Mary"? Do I pray frequently for the Pope and for the bishops of the world, that they may be given the grace to fulfill the requests of Our Lady of Fatima? Do I do all I can within my state of life to disseminate the truth about Fatima, as made known in the books of Sister Lucia, Francis Johnston, Brother Michel, Fr. Gruner and other authorities?
