Suggestions For Time
Schedules In addition to the outline and suggestion on the previous page the following plans are given: For individuals--- 1. One division throughout the entire month of May. The following May the next division and so on for eleven years. This plan is very easy and simple. In many cases it may be more fruitful. 2. Divide the month into three ten-day periods allotting one division to each period, for four years. In the fourth year the eleven remaining days can be assigned one to each division. For Groups--- 1. Groups of eleven---each member practices one division drawn by lot for the entire month. 2. For larger groups the necessary duplication of divisions (drawn by lot) could be made if a class or group does not wish to be divided, or because of number cannot be divided into eleven-member groups. 3. In small groups each member can take two or more divisions assigning a portion of the month to each. VII. Closing Remarks Nineteen centuries ago the lovely presence of the fairest of creatures, the Blessed Virgin Mary, graced a small patch of this earth. Now Heaven's realm claims for all eternity this Immaculate One. Earth does not possess even a fraction of a pin-point of her mortal remains, for Mary is gloriously resurrected from the dead. While earth has lost the favor of her virginal foot-falls earth's inhabitants still retain the favor of her remembrance of them. The sad story of man's failure to avail himself of this remembrance and the shining example of Mary's earthly life is seen both in private and public life. Those who come to her Mary leads to her Son, Jesus, the Savior of mankind. And when men and nations are one with Christ, peace, happiness, holy contentment result. Because some run with the demon of greedy strife and godlessness, must all do so? God be thanked and praised, no! Therefore, may as many as possible walk with the gentle Mother of Christ that she may lead them to the Prince of peace, that peace against which ungodly strife is powerless. As each day man breathes to keep life in his body, so he should let his soul's life develop by serving his Queen, by studying, praying, working to fulfill his duty of knowing, loving, serving his God. Such men and women are happy even though their hearts bleed under the lashes of sin's injustices. No day should pass without the soul praying to Mary. Prayers (they may consist of the one word, "Mary") of praise, sorrow for sin, help, thanksgiving should often rise to the lips from a heart in love with its Queen-Mother. Though May is set aside as Mary's month, the Church by no means signifies that the rest of the year should be Maryless. During the month of May devotion to Mary should be something added to the daily devotion. Public May devotions ought to be attended; they are an excellent means of giving Mary public honor; they can serve as reparation for the dishonor she suffered at the foot of the Cross. Dear reader, may each setting sun find you more and more Mary's, until that great day when you meet her face to face in the Palace of the King where she awaits you. |
