PRAYER TO ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI

Dear Saint Francis, once worldly and vain,
then, humble and poor for the sake of Jesus; 
with an ardent love for the Crucified, 
which showed itself in Thine body 
by the imprint of Christ's Sacred Wounds.
In this sensual and selfish age, how greatly 
we needThine secret that draws countless 
men and women to imitateThee. 
Teach us also Thy great love for the poor 
and unanswering loyalty to the Vicar of Christ
in imitation of Thee.
