Saint John the
Good, Bishop
January 10
Our Saint was named John Camillus, but was known as
John the Good because of his great humility and charity. It is thought
that he was born in the region of Liguria, Italy. About 641 he was made
the Bishop of Milan, being the first Bishop to reside there since the
Lombard invasions seventy years before. He died in 669. Bishop
Aribertus began devotion to the Saint when he found his body, believed
to have been lost. His name in Hebrew means "God is gracious or good".
Here he is depicted with Queen Theodelinda, Queen of the Lombards.
