Saint Titian, Bishop
January 16
The Saint was born in northern Italy in the 6th century and named
Titian, sometimes known as Tatian, and educated by the Bishop of Oderzo
who ordained him a deacon. Bishop Floriano had to depart on a
diplomatic mission and placed Titian as his successor in case he did
not return within a year. And thus did Titian become the Bishop,
remaining over the See even after the former Bishop finally returned.
Our Saint was known for his preaching and his generosity nd charity. He
died in 632 and immediately after devotion to him began and grew. In
art he is depicted in episcopal vestments.
