Saint Sulpice
January 17
d. 647
The Saint is sometmes known as Pius and Sulpicus, not to
be confused with another Saint of the same name with a Feast on the
29th and who also served as the Bishop of Bourges a half century before
this Saint bearing the same name.
Our Saint was born of wealthy parents, and he aided the poor in his
youth. He was made Bishop of Bourges in 624; he was known for his
auterity of life and his holiness and charity. He is credited with the
conversion of the inhabitants of the entire locale. He later resigned
his Bisopric to devote all his time to helping the destitute. The
famous St. Sulpice Seminary in Paris as well as many towns and
districts and buildings are named after him.
