Saint Fridolin
March 6
An Irish priest, circa 650, who settled at Poitiers, and who had a
vision that enabled him to recover the body of the founder of St.
Hilary Monastery there, was elected abbot and rebuilt the church
destroyed by Vandals where the relics were housed.
He left when the work was well under way and then settled on an island
in the Rhine near Coire Switzerland. Our saint built a monastery there
and he was again selected to be the abbot; he established a convent and
a school for boys. Because he made so many treks to preach the Gospel
he was given the surname of "the Wanderer".
