St. Thecla
September 23
First Century
St.
Thecla, Virgin and Martyr was put in chains in a dungeon, delivered
from fire, snakes, from lions and many other dangers.
She actually died a natural death.
She is called "a martyr" because she would have been Martyred
several
times had not God delivered her out of each situation to use her,
showing His
power and mercy.
She is the patron Saint of Tarragona, Spain.
The image is by Tiepolo, 18th century.
