Sts. Cosmos and Damian, Martyrs
September 27
The two Saints were twin brothers born in Arabia. They studied medicine
in Syria and then lived in Aegeae in Cilicia and became widely known
fro their medical skills, which they offered without charge to all. As
outstanding Christians they were arrested during a persecution, tried
before Lysias, the governer there, tortured and beheaded for the their
Catholic faith. Their three brothers, Anthimus, Euprepius and Leontius,
also were killed with them. Many miracles were reported after their
deaths, and they are the patrons of physicians, after St. Luke.
This date is the Traditional date for their Feast.
