The Triune
God:
SHORT INVOCATIONS
To the King of ages, immortal and invisible, the only God,
be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of Hosts:
the heavens and earth are fully of Thy glory.
With all our heart and voice, we acknowledge, we praise and we bless
Thee, God
the Father unbegotten, Thee, the only-begotten Son,
Thee, the Holy Ghost the Paraclete, O holy and undivided Trinity.
May the most just, the most high and the most lovable will of God be in
all
things done, praised and evermore exalted.
My God and my all.
My God, grant that I may love Thee, and let the only reward of my love
be to love Thee more and more.
My God, my only Good, Thou art all mine; may I be always Thine.
Blessed be the Name of the Lord!
My God, I give Thee thanks for what Thou givest, and for what Thou
takest away;
Thy will be done.
My God, make us to be of one mind in the truth and of one heart in
charity.
Teach me, O Lord, to do Thy will, for Thou art my God (Psalm 142, 10).
O Most Holy Trinity, I adore Thee Who art dwelling by Thy grace within
my soul.
O Most Holy Trinity, Who art dwelling by Thy grace within my soul, make
me love Thee more and more.
O Most Holy Trinity, Who art dwelling by Thy grace within my soul,
sanctify me more and more.
Abide with me, O Lord, be Thou my true joy.
My God, pour forth Thy blessings and Thy mercies upon all persons and
upon all Souls in Purgatory for whom, by reason of charity, gratitude
and friendship, I am bound or desire to pray. Amen.
O God, be merciful to me, the sinner (Luke 18, 13).
O God, Thou art all-powerful, make me a Saint (St. Alphonsus M. de
Liguori).
Holy God, Holy Strong One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us.
To Thee be praise, to Thee be glory, to Thee be thanksgiving through
endless ages,
O Blessed Trinity.
Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving, honor, might and power
be unto
our God for ever and ever. Amen (Apocalypse 7, 12).
Keep me, O Lord, as the apple of Thine eye;
beneath the shadow of Thy wings protect me (Psalm 16, 8).
Into, ThY hands, O Lord, I commend my spirit (Psalm 30, 6).
O God, come unto my assistance: O Lord, make haste to help me (Psalm
69, 2).
Vouchsafe, O Lord, this day (or
this night) to keep us without sin.
Deliver me, O Lord, from mine enemies (Psalm 58, 2).
O Lord, reward us not according to our sins which we have done,
neither according to our iniquities (Psalm 102, 10).
O Lord, remember not our former iniquities, and be merciful to
our sins
for Thy Name's sake (Psalm 78, 8-9).
O praise the Lord, all ye nations: praise Him, all ye peoples.
For His mercy is confirmed upon us:
and the truth of the Lord remaineth for ever (Psalm 116).
Holy Trinity, one God, have mercy on us.
From all sin deliver me, O Lord.
Lord, I fear Thy justice, I implore Thy mercy;
deliver me not to everlasting pains,
grant that I may possess Thee
in the midst of everlasting joys.
All through Thee, with Thee, and in Thee, O my God!
Most Holy Trinity, we adore Thee and through Mary we implore Thee.
Give unto all mankind unity in the faith and courage faithfully to
confess it.
Lord, save us, we perish!
Thy will be done!
O merciful Lord, Thou art never weary of speaking to my poor heart;
grant me
grace that, if today I hear Thy voice, my heart may not be hardened (R.
Cardinal Merry del Val).
Lord, I am nothing, but, although nothing, I adore Thee (R. Cardinal
Merry del Val).
Lord, I am my own enemy, when I seek my peace apart from Thee (R.
Cardinal Merry del Val).
My God, I believe in Thee, I hope in Thee, I love Thee above all things
with all my soul,
with all my heart and with all my strength; I love Thee because Thou
art infinitely good
and worthy of being loved; and because I love Thee, I repent with all
my heart of having
offended Thee; have mercy on me, a sinner. Amen.
Lord, increase our faith (Luke 17, 5).
My God, I love Thee.
I believe in Thee, I hope in Thee, I love Thee, I adore Thee, O Blessed
Trinity,
one God; have mercy on me now and at the hour of my death and save me.
O my soul, love the Love that loves thee from eternity (R. Cardinal
Merry del Val).
Almighty and ever lasting God, give unto us an increase of faith, hope
and charity; and, that we may deserve to obtain that which Thou dost
promise, make us to love that which Thou dost command. Through Christ
our Lord. Amen.
ACTS OF ADORATION AND THANKSGIVING FOR THE BENFITS WHICH
ACCRUE TO MANKIND FROM THE INCARNATION OF THE SON OF GOD
Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, behold us prostrate in
Thy Divine presence. We humble ourselves profoundly and beg of Thee the
forgiveness of our sins.
I. We adore Thee, Almighty Father, and with hearts overflowing we thank
Thee that Thou hast given us Thy Divine Son Jesus to be our Redeemer,
and that He hath bequeathed Himself to us in the most august Eucharist
even to the end of the world, revealing unto us the wondrous love of
His Heart in this mystery of faith and love.
Glory be to the Father, etc.
II. O Word of God, dear Jesus our Redeemer, we adore Thee and with
hearts overflowing we thank Thee for having taken human flesh upon Thee
and become for our redemption both Priest and Victim in the sacrifice
of the Cross, a sacrifice which, through the exceeding love of Thy
Sacred Heart, Thou dost renew upon our altars at every moment. O High
Priest, O Divine Victim, give us the grace to honor Thy holy sacrifice
in the most adorable Eucharist with the homage of Mary most holy and of
all Thy holy Church, triumphant, suffering and militant. We offer
ourselves wholly to Thee; of Thine infinite goodness and mercy do Thou
accept our offering, unite it to Thine Own and grant us Thy blessing.
Glory be to the Father, etc.
III. O Divine Spirit the Paraclete, we adore Thee and with hearts
overflowing we give Thee thanks that Thou hast, with such great love
for us, wrought the ineffable blessing of the Incarnation of the Word
of God, a blessing which is being continually extended and enlarged in
the most august Sacrament of the Eucharist. Ah, by this adorable
mystery of the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, do Thou grant unto us
and all poor sinners Thy holy grace. Pour forth Thy holy gifts upon us
and upon all redeemed souls, and in an especial manner upon the visible
Head of the Church, the supreme Roman Pontiff, upon all Cardinals,
Bishops and Pastors of souls, upon priests and all other ministers of
Thy sanctuary. Amen.
Glory be to the Father, etc.
I adore Thee O God, I count myself as nothing before Thy Divine
Majesty. Thou alone art Being, Life, Truth, Beauty and Goodness. I
glorify Thee, I praise Thee, I give Thee thanks and I love Thee, all
helpless and unworthy as I am, in union with Thy dear Son, Jesus
Christ, our Saviour and our Brother, in the merciful kindness of His
Heart and through His infinite merits. I desire to serve Thee, to
please Thee, to obey Thee and to love Thee always, in union with Mary
Immaculate, Mother of God and our Mother, loving also and serving my
neighbor for the love of Thee.
Wherefore give me Thy Holy Spirit, to enlighten me, to correct me and
to guide me in the way of Thy Commandments and in all perfection, the
while I look for the happiness of Heaven, where we shall glorify Thee
for ever and ever. Amen.
MORE PRAYERS TO THE TRIUNE GOD
Almighty and everlasting God, Who hast given unto us Thy servants grace
by the profession of the true faith, to acknowledge the glory of the
eternal Trinity, and, in the power of Thy Divine Majesty, to worship
the Unity; we beseech Thee, that by our steadfastness in this same
faith, we may evermore be defended from all adversities. Through Christ
our Lord. Amen.
Of Thy tender mercy, we beseech Thee, O Lord, loose the bonds of our
sins, and through the intercession of Mary, the blessed and ever-Virgin
Mother of God, together with that of Saint Joseph and Thy blessed
Apostles Peter and Paul, and of all Thy Saints, keep us Thy servants
and our dwelling places in all holiness; cleanse from sin and endue
with virtue all those who are joined to us by kindred, affinity and
friendship; grant unto us peace and safety; remove far from us our
enemies, both visible and invisible; repress all our carnal desires;
grant us wholesome air; bestow Thy charity upon our friends and
enemies; guard Thy city; preserve our Pontiff N.; defend all prelates
and princes and Thine entire Christian people from every adversity. Let
Thy blessing be evermore upon us, and do Thou grant unto all the
faithful departed rest everlasting. Amen.
O Lord Omnipotent, Who permittest evil that Thou mayest draw good
therefrom, give ear to our humble petitions, whereby we beg of Thee the
grace of being faithful unto death, evermore conforming ourselves toThy
most holy will.
Receive, O Lord, all my liberty. Take my memory, my understanding, and
my entire will. Whatsoever I have or hold, Thou hast given me; I give
it all back to Thee and commit it wholly to be governed by Thy will.
Thy love and Thy grace give unto me, and I am rich enough and ask for
nothing more (St. Ignatius Loyola).
Omnipotence of the Father, help my frailty and save me from the depths
of misery.
Wisdom of the Son, direct all my thoughts, words and deeds.
Love of the Holy Ghost, be Thou the source of all the operations of my
mind, that they may ever be conformed to God's good pleasure.
O Lord our God, we offer Thee our hearts united in the strongest and
most sincere love of brotherhood; we pray that Jesus in the Blessed
Sacrament may be the daily food of our souls and bodies; that Jesus may
be established as the center of our affections, even as He was for Mary
and Joseph. Finally, O Lord, may sin never disturb our union on earth;
and may we be eternally united in Heaven with Thee and Mary and Joseph
and with all Thy Saints. Amen.
Into Thy hands, O Lord, and into the hands of Thy holy Angels, I commit
and entrust this day my soul, my relations, my benefactors, my friends
and enemies, and all Thy Catholic people. Keep us, O Lord, through the
day, by the merits and intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary and of
all Thy Saints, from all vicious and unruly desires, from all sins and
temptations of the devil, and from sudden and unprovided death and the
pains of Hell. Illuminate my heart with the grace of Thy Holy Spirit;
grant that I may ever be obedient to Thy Commandments; suffer me not to
be separated from Thee, O God, Who livest and reignest with God the
Father and the same Holy Spirit for ever and ever. Amen (St. Edmund).
I vow and consecrate to God all that is in me: my memory and my actions
to God the Father; my understanding and my words to God the Son; my
will and my thoughts to God the Holy Ghost; my heart, my body, my
tongue, my senses and all my sorrows to the sacred Humanity of Jesus
Christ, "Who wast contented to be betrayed into the hands of wicked men
and to suffer the torment of the Cross" (St. Francis de Sales).
In order that I may be a living act of perfect love, I offer myself as
a whole burnt offering to Thy tender love, beseeching Thee to consume
me continually, letting my soul overflow with the floods of infinite
tenderness that are found in Thee, that so I may become a martyr of Thy
love, O my God! Let this martyrdom make me ready to appear before Thee
and at last cause me to expire; let my soul cast itself without delay
into the everlasting arms of Thy merciful love. With every beat of my
heart I desire, O my dearly Beloved, to renew this offering an infinite
number of times, until that day when the shadows shall vanish and I
shall be able to retell my love in an eternal face-to-face with Thee!
(St. Theresa of the Child Jesus)
Most Holy Trinity, Godhead indivisible, Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
our first beginning and our last end, since Thou hast made us after
Thine Own image and likeness, grant that all the thoughts of our minds,
all the words of our tongues, all the affections of our hearts and all
our actions may be always conformed to Thy most holy will, to the end
that after having seen Thee here below in appearances and in a dark
manner by the means of faith, we may come at last to contemplate Thee
face-to-face in the perfect possession of Thee for ever in Paradise.
Amen.
Grant, we beseech Thee, Almighty God, that we may so please Thy Holy
Spirit by our earnest entreaties, that we may by His grace both be
freed from all temptations and merit to receive the forgiveness of our
sins. Through Christ our Lord. Amen
Lord God Almighty, Who hast safely brought us to the beginning of this
day, defend us in the same by Thy mighty power, that this day we may
fall into no sin, but that all our words may so proceed, and all our
thoughts and actions may be so directed as as to do always that which
is just in Thy sight. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
I adore Thee,O my God, and I love Thee with all my heart. I give Thee
thanks that Thou hast created me, made me a Christian, and preserved me
this night. I offer Thee the actions of this day, grant that all of
them may be according to Thy holy Will, and for Thy greater glory. Save
me from sin and from all evil. Let Thy grace be always with me. Amen.
Visit, we beseech Thee, O Lord, this dwelling, and drive far from it
all snares of the enemy; let Thy holy Angels dwell herein, to preserve
us in peace; and let Thy blessing be always upon us. Through Christ our
Lord. Amen.
I adore Thee, my God, and I love Thee with all my heart. I give Thee
thanks for having created me, for having made me a Christian, and for
having preserved me this day. Pardon me for the evil I have done today;
if I have done anything good, do Thou accept it. Keep me while I take
my rest and deliver me from all dangers. May Thy grace be always with
me. Amen.
O God, Thou Who art One in nature and Three in Persons, Father,
Son,
and Holy Spirit, first cause and last end of all creatures, the
infinite Good, incomprehensible and ineffable, my Creator, my Redeemer,
and my Sanctifier, I believe in Thee, I hope in Thee, and I love Thee
with all my heart.
In the midst of Thine infinite happiness, Thou didst choose me, through
no merits of mine, in preference to countless other creatures, who
would doubtless have corresponded with Thy blessings better than I have
done; Thou didst love me from eternity; and when my hour in time had
come, Thou didst draw me from nothingness into earthly existence and
didst bestow upon me Thy grace, as a pledge of everlasting life.
From the depths of my misery, I adore Thee and I give Thee thanks. Thy
holy Name was invoked over my cradle to be my profession of faith, my
plan of action, and the only goal of my earthly pilgrimage; grant, O
most Holy Trinity, that I may ever be inspired by this faith, and may
carry out this plan with perseverance, so that, when I have reached the
end of my journey upon earth, I may be able to fix my gaze upon the
blessed splendors of Thy glory.
GOD THE FATHER and HOLY SPIRIT PRAYERS
O Father of mercies, from Whom cometh all that is good, I offer my
humble petitions unto Thee through the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Thy
dearly beloved Son, our Lord and Redeemer, in Whom Thou art always well
pleased and Who loves Thee so much; vouchsafe to grant me the grace of
a lively faith, a firm hope and an ardent charity toward Thee and
toward my neighbor. Grant me also the grace to be truly penitent for
all my sins together with a firm purpose of never offending Thee again;
that so I may be enabled to live always according to Thy Divine
good-pleasure, to do Thy most holy will in all things with a generous
and willing heart, and to persevere in Thy love even to the end of my
life. Amen.
O Holy Spirit, sweet Guest of my soul, abide in me and grnat that I may
ever abide in Thee.
