As we head down the no way back road to a totally socialist oligarchy empowered by a too complacent and or helplessly marginalized populace and a willingly duped media who are blinded by the stars in their own eyes and a self-induced general amnesia on the cruelty and utter injustice of one unnatural crime against nature --- that of abortion --- weakening our resolve to stave off the ascendancy of another --- the sin of the city of Sodom [Judge Robert Bork called it "Slouching Towards Gomorrah"], it behooves us to read once more the following, keeping in mind Our Lady of Fatima's warning against the errors of Russia, a state of political and social mind that is not confined to any one country, that excludes God and results in what Karl Marx resolved for the fate of the world:

"Owners of capital will stimulate the working class to buy more and more of expensive goods, houses and technology, pushing them to take more and more expensive credits, until their debt becomes unbearable. The unpaid debt will lead to bankruptcy of banks, which will have to be nationalized, and the State will have to take the road which will eventually lead to communism." (Das Kapital, 1867)

Will an international incident or one here at home, either caused by the perception that America is now weak with quisling "leaders" --- the time advantageous for a strike at one of our Achilles heels, or by our government directly [a la Joe Biden's veiled comments], in order to impose martial law on America, the suspension of constitutional guarantees, enshrine an imperial presidency unheard of before? Will elections be suspended? Can we count on any court of last resort?

In an interview on C-Span Judge Bork said that he was uncertain about the direction of the court, especially as to abortion. It is a possibility ---  a very real one --- based on past cases here in the USA that Catholic hospitals, for instance would be forced to do abortions or close some medical services altogether. He was referring to the promise of Barack Obama that he would sign FOCA into law if it came on his desk.

Will Red China, which owns much of our debt seize our banks and thereby hold our very fate in their heathen, murderous clutches? How fast will the elite fall in line to sign up as puppets? And what about the rights of Catholics to speak out, or any dissenting American for that matter? Will the press continue to justify the pro-abortion lobby, or simply ignore as much as possible as they have done this past month the March for Life? Where is the outrage as our taxes pay for abortion and contraception abroad in violation of our sacred consciences? Is not this the very suspension of our God-given rights as we used to know them? A mere blip on the radar screen, while discussion of Michelle Obama's wardrobe takes precedence. I exaggerate but only by a wisp of a thread. Our gods are our belly and a false egalitarianism that is impossible because it violates human nature itself and the natural law of reason.

In his book, SLOUCHING TOWARDS GOMORRAH, Judge Bork wrote incisively and insightfully:

"What is harder to understand is the radical egalitarian notion that equality must be imposed even when very rational distinctions militate against it. That notion caused the prompt skewing of the non-discrimination laws by the bureaucrats and courts into whose care the implementation of the policy was given. Non-discrimination became discrimination, but against different people: white males. The new discrimination did not violate the tenets of radical egalitarianism, because modern liberals, who control these policies, do not think in terms of individuals but in terms of groups. Thus, proportional representation of groups in the workplace, on faculties, and in student bodies looks like non-discrimination to them." [79]

What will the new discrimination look like and who will it impact unjustly and disproportionately? Were some of the inauguration week speakers signaling the new order?

On page 280 Robert Bork described the spirit of the age, the spirit of surrender:

"Conformity to the spirit of the times appears to characterize the clergy as well as the laity. In 1968 Pope Paul VI issued an encyclical on birth control that, to state the matter gently, was thoroughly counter to the zeitgeist and highly unpopular. The American bishops decided to give the position only verbal support and, according to James Hitchcock, a Catholic writer, thereby 'made the fundamental strategic mistake which has been the undoing of liberal Protestantism. For over a century liberal Protestantism has steadily surrendered Christian positions deemed incredible by a particular historic age, the better to protect the core of the faith. But in each generation, more such surrenders demanded, until there is finally nothing left, and surrender becomes the chief expectation which liberals must meet.'"

O truly we as yet do not know what it is that we have wrought in our glorification of celebrity and change without scrutiny with the help of too many bishops who ... surrendered!
