THE MOTU PROPRIO AND THE JEWS
by Pauly Fongemie, July 7, 2007
Today Pope Benedict's Motu Proprio or decree of his own accord on wider
use of the Immemorial Mass, e.g. the Traditional Roman Mass is to be
issued.
The scope of this brief article is not to discuss the decree itself,
for we wish to study it first, rather than comment on the various news
reports on the ancient Mass. I am not hopeful because it is not an
edict and it was released to only 30 bishops. It is at best a crumb
given to a man who is near death from starvation.
Our concern on this page is the response of organized Jewry, designed
to derail the decree or disturb those weak in the faith so as to
minimize the Roman Mass, which includes the traditional prayer for the
conversion of the Jews, which some Jews take umbrage at.
According to Nicole Winifield, Associated Press Writer, in an article
for The Guardian
[United Kingdom paper], "Jewish groups have also expressed concern over
a prayer in the Tridentine rite for the conversion of Jews."
There have
been similar reports elsewhere, some much broader in re
the concerns of the Jews who were lobbying the Vatican to not issue the
decree. Can you imagine a Catholic group lobbying the Grand Rabbi of
Jerusalem to not hold Yom Kippur services, for instance? Because it
might offend some other group or groups? To ask the question is to
answer it.
First, human nature:
Now, when someone who worships a false god says to me that he is
praying for me, I pay no heed because there is but One God, the Holy
Undivided Blessed Trinity, and prayers to false gods have no effect
except in the mind of the infidel, however good his intentions. I
always make a mental note to remember to pray for that person's
conversion of the reception of the gift of true faith in the only God
Who Is and can answer prayers. Most people I
am acquainted with react in the same way. This is just human nature at
work and less about personal virtue. It's the same way about those who
believe in astrology. I might feel sad that they believe this, but
their beliefs cannot affect me as long as I do not ascribe to any of
their erroneous notions, courting the wrath of God and honoring Satan
in his domain, thereby violating the First Commandment. All I
need to do is pray for the conversion of
such people if they will not be dissuaded otherwise. The rest is in the
hands of God. We all know this, some
more and some less, but on some level we do know this to be the case.
Why? For the same reason that those who are misguided about gravity and
do not subscribe to it, can not harm us in any way. We know that
gravity
exists although we are not a scientists, because we have faith in those
who
are and are not politicized to alter science examination for an agenda;
and because we are certain that those who deny gravity, are still
subject
to it. Their delusion is their problem and not ours. This error will at
least not damn them to Hell if they are culpable for the error.
And ultimately, this is what constitutes the underlying dynamic at work
whenever religious controversy occurs around denial of the Blessed
Trinity. This is why the mass media are open to publishing far and wide
the most hideous blasphemy against the Blessed Trinity and only this,
while generally refraining [an exception here and there, as there
always is] from blaspheming false gods. You see, down deep, in the core
of their being, whether they articulate it to themselves
or not, is the knowing that there is One True God; this God has a set
of rules for human conduct, which is what riles the worldly, and the
media on the whole is made up of those who subscribe to the tenets of
the world, not the One True God or the Blessed Trinity. All the other
gods, they know are actually false, thereby no real threat to their
lifestyle choices so they can "afford" to "respect" the mainstream
followers of these false gods or religions based on them. The only GOD
they will not tolerate respect for is the ONLY God, for He must die by
mockery to squelch their consciences; that is their false hope but it
arises from the Truth, which they perceive if only subconscious. Basic
human nature, actually.
In his work,
Questions
and Answers on Salvation, Father Michael Muller, C.SS.R. teaches
in
number 20:
"What kind of infidels are guilty of the sin
of infidelity?
"All those unbaptized persons are guilty, who do not
embrace the true religion, although the truths thereof have been
sufficiently made known to them --- like many of the Jews of whom our
Lord said that they had no excuse for their sins, because He had spoken
to them.
"All those unbaptized persons are guilty, who have
received sufficient light to know the truth, or at least to understand
the danger of their position, and the obligation of making diligent
inquiries to ascertain and embrace the truth, but neglect to do so.
"And all those are guilty of the sin of infidelity,
who willfully deny the truth and obstinately resist it."
Now the Immemorial Roman Mass is utterly holy and sublime and a
veritable catechism in of itself, apart from its primary purpose,
sacrifice for sin. A holy priest who offers this Mass renders worship
to Almighty God in a manner much more efficacious than the best Novus
Ordo Mass wherein no such oration for the conversion of the Jews is
prayed. It is one of the hallmarks of the Traditional Roman Mass that
the Jews, are accorded the highest respect, being the race or people of
Our Lord and Savior and His Holy Mother, the Queen of Heaven and earth.
To pray for the conversion of the Jews is an act of compassion and
fraternal charity. No Catholic is able or ought to condemn the heart of
any man, including any Jew. He is praying in general for the people so
dear to the heart of Jesus Christ, because He Himself was so concerned
about them, not only in the New Testament, but in the Old Testament as
well, like the chapter below, which speaks for itself and requires no
commentary from us regarding our purpose here. Emphasis in bold added.

From the Prophecy Of Jeremias [who is pictured above]
Chapter 4
An admonition to sincere repentance, and circumcision of the heart,
with threats of grievous punishment to those that persist in sin.
1 If thou wilt return, O Israel, saith
the Lord, return to Me: if thou
wilt take away thy stumbling blocks out of my sight, thou shalt not be
moved. 2 And thou shalt swear: As the Lord liveth, in truth, and in
judgment, and in justice: and the Gentiles shall bless Him, and shall
praise Him. 3 For thus saith the Lord to the men of Juda and
Jerusalem:
Break up anew your fallow ground, and sow not upon thorns: 4 Be
circumcised to the Lord, and take away the foreskins of your hearts, ye
men of Juda, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my indignation come
forth like fire, and burn, and there be none that can quench it:
because of the wickedness of your thoughts. 5 Declare ye in Juda, and
make it heard in Jerusalem: speak, and sound with the trumpet in the
land: cry aloud, and say: Assemble yourselves, and let us go into
strong cities.
6 Set up the standard in Sion. Strengthen yourselves, stay not: for I
bring evil from the north, and great destruction. 7 The lion is come up
out of his den, and the robber of nations hath roused himself: he is
come forth out of his place, to make thy land desolate: thy cities
shall be laid waste, remaining without an inhabitant. 8 For this gird
yourselves with haircloth, lament and howl: for the fierce anger of the
Lord is not turned away from us. 9 And it shall come to pass in that
day, saith the Lord: That the heart of the king shall perish, and the
heart of the princes: and the priests shall be astonished, and the
prophets shall be amazed. 10 And I said: Alas, alas, alas, O Lord God,
hast Thou then deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying: You shall
have peace: and behold the sword reacheth even to the soul? ...
21 How long shall I see men fleeing away, how long shall I hear the
sound of the trumpet?
22 For My
foolish people have not known Me: they
are foolish and senseless children: they are wise to do evil, but to do
good they have no knowledge. 23 I beheld the earth, and lo it
was void,
and nothing: and the heavens, and there was no light in them. 24 I
looked upon the mountains, and behold they trembled: and all the hills
were troubled. 25 I beheld, and lo there was no man: and all the birds
of the air were gone.
26 I looked, and behold Carmel was a wilderness: and all its cities
were destroyed at the presence of the Lord, and at the presence of the
wrath of His indignation. 27 For thus saith the Lord: All the land
shall be desolate, but yet I will not utterly destroy. 28 The earth
shall mourn, and the heavens shall lament from above: because I have
spoken, I have purposed, and I have not repented, neither am I turned
away from it. 29 At the voice of the horsemen, and the archers, all the
city is fled away; they have entered into thickets and have climbed up
the rocks: all the cities are forsaken, and there dwelleth not a man in
them. 30 But when thou art spoiled what wilt thou do? though thou
deckest thee with ornaments of gold, and paintest thy eyes with stibic
stone, thou shalt dress thyself out in vain: thy lovers have despised
thee, they will seek thy life.
Those organized Jews who are so concerned about a sincere, loving
prayer for their conversion, if they themselves are sincere that Christ
is not the second Person of the Blessed Trinity, and thereby not God,
would not be afraid that such a prayer would have an effect, because a
false "God" cannot answer prayer or give the gift of true faith as an
act
of grace. Only the One True God can. Thus, they who want to remain
obstinate fear the efficacy of such a prayer and not the reprisal of
Catholics who have no intent other than to pray and hope for those who
are descendants of their beloved Savior and His Mother. This tells me,
that the leaders, know the truth, if only on the subliminal, or else
they would have
no such concern. They fear resistance of obstinacy in denying Christ
once more through grace by some Jews --- that they might
convert as they have been doing all along, ever since Christ and before
Him, St. John the Baptist, a Jew also. Every such conversion convicts
them in their hearts, if they are culpable; they reveal themselves to
be culpable by their dread.
And in doing so they must also deny the revealed reality that the
prophets Elias and Enoch, are still living, awaiting the time when God
will once more send them to His people to convert them.
Again? Human nature. The thing speaks for itself. It is the
ancient Mass itself they fear, its power because of its Saving Victim,
Jesus Christ, not the watered down banal Novus Ordo meal that offers
prayers for the Jews to celebrate Jewish religious observances, as if
to say they need not convert. This, too, speaks for itself.
