Subject: Catholic Church teaching vs Senator Barack Obama teaching

AN OPEN LETTER TO ALL THOSE WHO RECEIVE MY E-MAILS & OTHERS

"IF YOU DO NOT STAND FOR SOMETHING, YOU WILL FALL FOR ANYTHING."
          G.K.Chesterton

Fifteen years ago, I started writing in defense of Catholic teaching, in response to some Catholics who were
attempting to re-define the Bible, Catechism & Church teachings as "opinions" or "viewpoints", subject to their
interpretations & acceptance. A "well-formed" conscience became a mere phrase to them. A particular issue,
abortion, took center stage because every slain victim was both innocent & defenseless. With my writing I have
tried to assist those on the front lines at abortion clinics, hospitals, etc.& to enter minds where good fights evil
& Life fights Death daily.

In 1973, the Supreme Court, in a decision not even remotely based on the U.S.Constitution, declared that a
woman had control over not only her own body but also any body residing within it. With this law the abortion
"bloodgates" opened wide. If Senator Obama has his way those gates will open even wider.

Through the years only once did I write relative to an election & that was when Sen.John Kerry, during a pres-
idential debate, responded to a question by a woman who asked how he, as a Catholic, could defend his approval
of abortion & other moral issues contrary to our Faith. His response, before a national TV audience, was: "trust
me---I was an altar boy."! Such deception could not go unchallenged. Today, in courting the Catholic vote, Sen.
Obama is also deceptively attempting to convince us to accept his position as "Catholic friendly". Incidentally,
anyone who knows me knows that my words are not racially driven.

SENATOR OBAMA AND THE CATHOLIC VOTE

When asked by the Catholic Digest (Oct.2008) "what you would say to Catholic voters who may be hesitant to
vote for you because of your pro-choice stance? Sen.Obama replied:"It's true that I strongly support a woman's
right to make decisions about her reproductive freedom. I recognize that abortion is a moral issue.
Nobody is pro-abortion." Unbelievable statements! The "reproductive freedom" which he supports is,
bluntly put,"freedom" to
allow a child to live or to have it killed ! This "freedom" gives no rights to the precious child....
nor to God.  Imagine---
men & women deciding, in our present day "throw away" mentality, that Heaven's gifts of life
are disposable.
An angel was cast down from Heaven for proposing equality with God (cf Genesis 3:1-15) Haven't we
learned anything? ("...but if a blind man guide a blind man both fall into a pit." (Matt.15:14)

As to his "nobody is pro-abortion" claim, had the millions of innocent victims been able to speak, all would
have had the same question on their dying lips. "If nobody is pro-abortion who is killing me....and why?

The Senator also said "young men & women should recognize "the sacredness of human sexuality." Abortion
is not a recognition but a denial of sacredness, and the loss  becomes Humanity's loss.

A website of "Matthew 25 network", a Democratic political action committee supporting Sen.Obama, says "an
Obama administration will do more than a McCain one for the cause of life by drastically reducing abortions,
giving women & families the support & tools they need to choose life." In reality, his plan would decimate  all
pro-life efforts. Since 1973, almost fifty million (that's 50,000,000) lives have been lost  through abortion,
while those performing, permitting or endorsing abortion blissfully chant their slogan "fewer & safer abortions",
ignoring the grim reality taking place day after day, year after year; never asking themselves the obvious
question:"How safe is a 'safe' abortion for the innocent child?

Some, in defense of their position, cite the death of 4,000+ American men & women killed in service in Iraq,
economic problems, and so on, as comparable to the abortion issue but fail to reflect on the 4,000 children aborted
daily, yes, daily, and reaching 1,500,000 yearly. Their omission emboldens all who would eliminate
all pro-life life laws & efforts on behalf of the unborn.

That site  fails to mention the Senator's support of the so-called "Freedom of Choice Act', a bill to
make unlimited abortions throughout pregnancy the national law & overturn every pro-life law in all 50 states,
including bans on tax-funded & partial-birth abortions.  He opposed the ban on partial-birth abortion,
& his wife, Michelle, used that opposition in a fund-raising letter. Also, he vowed to nominate only pro-choice
candidates to the Supreme Court to save Roe Vs Wade. How's that for "drastically reducing abortions?

The Senator's intentions are offensive to all pro-lifers. Furthermore, his position on every one of these issues is
completely contrary to our Catholic Faith beliefs, yet he tries to make his moral imperatives appear palatable to
Catholics. While it is true that we are struggling with the issues of life, we, at least, have a chance to perservere in
adversity & live. Not so, the unborn, whose immediate future is Death!

Over 2,000 years ago, when the High Priest & Sanhedrin sought to silence the Apostles, their response was :
"...we must obey God, rather than men." (Acts 5:28-29). I pray that Catholics & others throughout our Country will
follow their example.

In closing, I believe that Senator Obama & his wife consider their daughters as precious gifts from God, which
they are. Were they less precious while in the womb? Anyone so believing risks becoming less precious in
the eyes of their children....and in the Eyes of God.

 Respectfully,
Robert Quinn
