Bishop of Capua, Italy, 541-54, he was known for his learning and wrote several important theological treatises, among them De cyclo paschali [550], Capitula de resurrectione Domini, and commentaries on the Bible. He also edited the Codex fuldensis, one of the oldest manuscripts on the Vulgate, in which he wrote a harmony of the Gospels in re the four Gospels in canonical order.
