The Advent of the Novena to St. Michael the Archangel, Defender in
Battle

EVER since the ascendancy of Pope Francis to the Chair of Peter,
this piece, which will be as frank as possible within the boundary of
the virtue of prudence, has been percolating just below the surface,
always coming with me into my prayer time, like an intrusive pest, yet
a spur to invigorate my faith, for which I am deeply grateful to
Almighty God and to Our Lady
of Fatima and la Salette, two Church approved apparitions, the latter
in the 19th century and the first in the 20th, both to innocent
shepherd children with dire warnings about the times we are now
experiencing. I would like to begin with a quote about the Third Secret
of Fatima, the part that as yet which remains officially unacknowledged
by the Holy See, followed by a series of direct citations form Our Lady
of la Salette [Text in bold, commentary in regular font face]:
Years before the pastoral
Vatican II, Ven. Pope Pius XII foresaw the
coming devastation as predicted by Our Lady of Fatima in 1917. He was
worried about changes that could come into the liturgy: he said while
still Cardinal Pacelli:
"I
am worried by the Blessed Virgin's Messages to Lucy of Fatima. This
persistence of Mary about the dangers which menace the Church is a
Divine warning against the suicide of altering the Faith in Her
Liturgy, Her theology and Her soul ..."
The Third Secret foretells our time of apostasy in the Church. We
know this because Cardinal Ciappi, Pope John Paul II's theologian, who
read the Secret, says: "In the
Third Secret, it is foretold, among other things, that the Great
Apostasy in the Church begins at the top." This means a
number of Cardinals and bishops and priests in the Vatican are
misleading the faithful and leading them into apostasy. That
Third Secret, which began "In Portugal
the dogma of the faith will be
preserved ..." [meaning elsewhere something quite different from
preserving the
dogma of the faith] bears directly on our time.
Given the orientation of the modern popes
with respect to a submission to the "spirit of the Council" the odor of
which emits more than a whiff or two of modern errors disguised as a
pastoral approach or updating, it is little wonder that the Holy See
has consciously chosen to ignore this aspect, which is at the heart of
our deepening malaise.
Over a hundred years before Our Lady of Fatima came as
prophetess-ambassador to Portugal from Heaven to warn souls in grave
peril of Hell, at la Salette in France she told the children [pay
particular attention to the text in red]:
"... The Vicar of
my Son will suffer a
great deal, because for a while the Church will yield to large
persecution,
a time of darkness, and the Church will witness a frightful crisis. The
true faith of the Lord having been forgotten, each individual will want
to be on his own and be superior to people of the same identity. They
will
abolish civil rights as well as ecclesiastical, all order and all
justice
would be trampled underfoot and only homicides, hate, jealousy, lies
and
dissension would be seen without love for country or family.
"The Holy Father will suffer a great deal.
I will be with him until the end and receive his sacrifice.
"All the civil governments will have one
and the same plan, which will be to abolish and do away with every
religious
principle, to make way for materialism, atheism, spiritualism and vice
of all kinds. In the year 1865, there will be desecration of holy
places.
In convents, the ... devil will make himself like the king of all
hearts.
May those in charge of religious communities be on their guard against
the people they must receive, for the devil will resort to all this
evil
tricks to introduce sinners in to religious orders, for disorder and
the
love of carnal pleasures will be spread all over the earth.
"... The wicked will make use of all
their
evil ways. Men will kill each other, massacre each other even in their
homes. At the first blow of His thundering sword, the mountains and all
nature will tremble in terror, for the disorders and crimes of men have
pierced the vault of the heavens. Paris will burn and Marseilles will
be
engulfed. Several cities will be shaken down and swallowed up by
earthquakes.
People will believe that all is lost. Nothing will be seen but murder,
nothing will be heard but the clash of arms and blasphemy.
"The righteous will suffer greatly. Their
prayers, their penances and their tears will rise up to Heaven and all
of God's people will beg for forgiveness and mercy and will plead for
my
help and intercession. And then Jesus Christ, in an act of His justice
and His great mercy will command His Angels to have all His enemies put
to death. Suddenly, the persecutors of the Church of Jesus Christ and
all
those given over to sin will perish and the earth will become
desert-like.
And then peace will be made, and man will be reconciled with God. Jesus
Christ will be served, worshipped, and glorified. Charity will flourish
everywhere. The new kings will be the right arm of the holy Church,
which
will be strong, humble, pious, poor but fervent in the imitation of the
virtues of Jesus Christ. The Gospel will be preached everywhere and
mankind
will make great progress in its faith, for there will be unity among
the
workers of Jesus Christ and man will live in fear of God.
"This peace among men will be
short-lived.
Twenty-five years of plentiful harvests will make them forget that the
sins of men are the cause of all the troubles on this earth. A
forerunner
of the Antichrist, with his troops gathered from several nations, will
fight against the true Christ, the only Savior of the world. He will
shed
much blood and will want to annihilate the worship of God to make
himself
be looked upon as a God.
"The earth will be
struck by calamities
of all kinds (in addition to plague and famine which will be
widespread).
There will be a series of wars until the last war, which will then be
fought
by the ten kings of the Antichrist, all of whom will have one and the
same
plan and will be the only rulers of the world. Before this comes to
pass,
there will be a kind of false peace in the world. People will think of
nothing but amusement. The wicked will give themselves over to all
kinds
of sin. But the children of the holy Church, the children of my faith,
my true followers, they will grow in their love for God and in all the
virtues most precious to me. Blessed are the souls humbly guided by the
Holy Spirit! I shall fight at their side until they reach a fullness of
years.
"Nature is asking for
vengeance because
of man, and she trembles with dread at what must happen to the earth
stained
with crime. Tremble, earth, and you who proclaim yourselves as serving
Jesus Christ and who, on the inside, only adore yourselves, tremble,
for
God will hand you over to His enemy because the holy places are in the
state of corruption ... It will be during this time that the
Antichrist
will be born of a Hebrew nun, a false virgin who will communicate with
the old serpent, the master of impurity, his father will be B. At
birth,
he will spew out blasphemy; he will have teeth, in a word, he will be
the
devil incarnate. He will scream horribly, he will perform wonders, he
will
feed on nothing but impurity. He will have brothers who, although not
devils
incarnate like him, will be children of evil. At the age of twelve,
they
will draw attention upon themselves by the gallant victories they will
have won; soon they will each lead armies, aided by the legions of
Hell.
"The seasons will be
altered, the earth
will produce nothing but bad fruit, the stars will lose their regular
motion,
the moon will only reflect a faint reddish glow. Water and fire will
give
the earth's globe convulsions and terrible earthquakes which will
swallow
up mountains, cities .... Rome
will lose the faith and become the seat
of
the Antichrist.
So many faithful Catholics who have maintained the Tradition of the
Faith are perplexed about much of the comments to the media from Pope
Francis and scarcely know what to think, for fear of appearing
imprudent and uncharitable. I placed myself in their company, until
yesterday, that is. Not only
"by their fruits" must we judge in the objective realm, but by the consequences that
necessarily ensue from a spate of rash, unTraditional Catholic thinking
put into media statements that explode with shrapnel that shatter the
very mettle of our Catholic souls. Because I devoutly trust in and
believe all that Our Lady
has foretold out of love for her children, I am not surprised although
still shell-shocked, in that I had thought and hoped that when the time
came, and I knew with certainty that it was coming, I would be at last
in my grave. This grace from God was not meant to be. His will is
always my will because it is His
will and not mine.
The time has come to write this article, which is lengthy, but for
which I do not apologize. Where to begin, one might well ask, since the
media is agog with running away with Pope Francis' comments as if an
oracle from on high, altogether to be expected given the trajectory of
the relationship between the Church and the media, ever since Vatican
II, which was a public relations disaster viz. a viz. the Church and Her
Tradition, which she must safeguard because it is a sacred Trust from
Christ and the Apostles, and a
triumph for those who have a vested interest in destroying her
in order that they may keep their sin and pride while priding
themselves on their personal worthiness among men, and or those who
merely look upon the Church as they do changing political societies.
It seems to me that I have been too prudent over the past months,
biding my tongue while the Pontiff unofficially, fallibly "teaches" that the Church
has been wrong all these centuries, in so many precipitous suggestions
by way of nuanced comments about marriage, divorce, celibacy,
homosexuality, and now abortion and contraception, as if the "clergy were obsessing".
If this were not so serious, it would be comic, ironic, for in the vast
Novus Ordo structure there is
hardly to be found a priest who can be characterized as "obsessing"
about these vital moral matters - quite the contrary, the silence has
been deafening for two generations now, and we know that Our Lady of
Fatima told the children that more
souls go to Hell for sins against purity than any other, even
though there are worse sins, such as blasphemy and heresy. Nothing but
the "social gospel" as defined by the Democratic elite has been
effectively preached in all this time. The other sins are barely a blip
on the sonar screen and then only pro
forma once or twice a year, if at that. If priests are
"obsessing over abortion, contraception and the rise of Sodom, then
what would be the correct term to apply to the constant preaching on
the redistribution of wealth? - employers are always evil, greedy,
employees are always perfect victims - and unless we submit to the
dictates of socialism we are heartless brutes, cold and without charity
- in words so bold that this is the conclusion one draws. Nary a word
about the unjust tax system that robs the working man with a family of
much needed sustenance which he earned by his own industriousness for
daily duty, including that which he would like to offer up in alms. And
so forth, such as the duty of employees to work an honest day's pay,
not to loaf on the job and find excuses not to work because the system
affords the luxury of not working supported by the working poor who are
disadvantaged. I have literally lost count of the number of times that
store clerks have told me that I can keep the incorrect change due to
an error on the part of the clerk, because it is the "store's money."
This is theft, but when I interject that I was given too much change,
some of the looks have been downright strange as if I were weird.
Having been both a store owner and a store employee, I have seen both
sides and believe me the employee side can be as unpretty as the
employer side. Original Sin does not discriminate, but the socialists
in the priesthood would like to think otherwise. So it is laughable on
its face, except it is anything but a laughing matter as they say.
Enough is enough!
A few pertinent thoughts from Pontiffs and
Saints are very much in order:
Indeed, the true friends of the people
are
neither the revolutionaries nor innovators, they are the
traditionalists.
[Pope
St. Pius X, Our Apostolic Mandate,
Aug. 25, 1910, para. 44.]
To recoil before an enemy,
or to keep silence when from all sides such
clamors are raised against truth, is the part of a man either devoid of
character or who entertains doubt as to the truth of what he professes
to believe. In both cases such mode of behaving is base and is
insulting to God, and both are incompatible with the salvation of
mankind." [Pope Leo XIII, Sapientiae
Christianae]
"It is better that the truth be
known than that scandal be covered
up." [St. Augustine]
"Not to oppose error is to approve it; and not to defend truth
is to suppress it; and indeed to neglect to confound evil men, when we
can do it, is no less a sin than to encourage them." [Pope St. Felix
III]
Back in 1947, Pope Pius XII,
in his
encyclical, Mediator
Dei, said "We observe with considerable anxiety and some
misgiving,
that elsewhere certain enthusiasts, over-eager in their search for
novelty,
are straying beyond the path of sound doctrine and prudence."
"If the faith is in imminent peril, prelates ought to be accused by
their subjects, even in public." [St. Thomas Aquinas]
"The greatest obstacle in the apostolate of the Church is the timidity
or rather the cowardice of the faithful." [Pope St. Pius X]
Enough is indeed enough!
No Pontiff has any authority to go beyond that of the Apostolic
Mandate, or Tradition. He does possess full or plenary power, but only to safeguard that Tradition.
This itself, is part of that Tradition, similar to that of human law,
which has no authority or right to go beyond the boundaries set by the
natural law. So, too, no Pontiff or Church Council can assail the fort
that is Sacred Tradition, without incurring the wrath of God, which is
generally visited upon all the people in various complimentary ways and vice versa.
When Pope Paul issued the Novus Ordo
Missae, he was violating the canons of Tradition and in some
manner he realized it, for at the time he publicly admitted that it was a novelty, yet he
persisted in his hubris and desire for change and his own legacy in the
world. All the Pontiffs until the modern era taught that novelty was to
be avoided. Even Pope Paul recognized this, for before he authorized
the New Mass, he rescinded his ideas about changing the Rosary because
he said that it was a novelty in a long standing devotion that ought
not be altered. Then he ignored the profane novelty that is the New
Mass ["the
suicide of altering the Faith in Her Liturgy, Her theology and Her soul
..."],
one that has altered the faith itself in the hearts of the people and
clergy alike. And apparently our
present Pontiff.
Once the Novus Ordo, which
never abrogated the Immemorial Mass of Tradition, but promulgated in
such wise that there was an appearance that such was the case, until
recently under our blessed Pope Benedict, became the established new order, all Hell broke loose as
the Church began its swift disintegration within and its decline of
moral authority both within and without - Pope Paul said as much in an
allocution, "that the Church was in a process of auto demolition." Much
grace was withheld by Almighty God for the countless sacrileges that
occurred in the heady days of endless change and profound disrespect
for that which is sacred and must not be made light of or held in
contempt. Soon contraception and abortion, the rupture of biological,
social and moral Tradition from the limits imposed on man by the
natural law would become institutionalized gratis modern governments and the
Malthusian imperative that captured worldly minds bereft of the gift of
the true Faith. This in turn brought the chastisement of the loss of
more grace and a benighted Catholic populace that joined the world and
began to desecrate the Sunday Sabbath by shopping. The de-sacralization
of Sunday brought tears to Our Lady of la Salette's eyes. All was in a
tailspin no longer avoidable, the chastisement well merited: a vicious
cycle engendered by man's self deceit and vainglory.
It all began with the desecration of Sunday in sundry ways and it will
need to be a return to a full awareness and actual embrace of the
meaning of the Sacredness of the Sabbath, from the Holy Mass on down,
which has to include the cessation of sacrilegious Communions by
contracepting Catholics. Now we catch a glimmer that the Pontiff is
actively encouraging - whether intended or not - those
priests who are already so reluctant to preach on the mortal sin of
contraception, that they simply do not, will preen privately, "see I
was right all along, the heck with these Traditionalists in my parish,"
much like the betrayal Traditionalists endured with altar girls,
Communion in both Species and administered and received in the hand by
the laity. Nothing new under the sun, of course, and we must not let
this latest series of betrayals from our own Father in Rome deflect us
from our goal, to defend the Faith in all its richness and in all its
Traditions, to persevere unto salvation; discouragement is the weapon
of Satan, let not this latest outburst of ignorance - I cannot believe
it is born of malice - cause us to lose so much as a scintilla of our
precious Catholic Faith, a Faith which cannot change. Remember Christ
was betrayed by His Own, too. And He came to fulfill the law, to
strengthen it, so much so that some of the Pharisees thought He was
"obsessing" also. Christ said He came to divide not unite, so we know
that doctrine or belief matters, most to Him. There can be no
compromise with the ways of the world, which rejected Him then, and we
must continue to reject it and remain loyal to Him now.
In an article I wrote many years ago, titled, The Indefectibility of the Church,
I quoted Church Fathers:
Because
of its indefectibility the truths revealed by God will always be taught
in the Catholic Church. Saint Ambrose said: "The Church is like the
moon; it may wane, but never be destroyed; it may be darkened, but it
can never disappear." Saint Anselm said that the bark of the Church may
be swept by the waves, but it can never sink, because Christ is there.
When the Church is in greatest need, Christ comes to its help by
miracles, or by raising up saintly men to strengthen and purify it. It
is the bark of Peter; when the storm threatens to sink it, the Lord
awakens from His sleep, and commands the winds and waters into calm:
"Peace; be still!"
Defend the Faith, be not agitated, be at peace, persevere in all
truth and in every season.

In another article, Modern Errors
I ended with the following as I do so once more here:
In closing, let us recall
the words of Christ: "I come not to bring peace but to turn father
against son ... meaning that the universal divider of families [and
friendships] is
neither money, nor politics, although these are bad enough, but
religion. There is only one true Church as He taught and we are either
with Him or against Him. The only everlasting true peace is peace of a
conscience informed by Tradition, the heart of the Church's precepts. I
stand with Christ's unchanging teaching safeguarded by Tradition
through the dogmatic statements of the Church under the Holy Spirit. To
do otherwise is to blaspheme in essence. We are all sinners but surely
we need not profess false doctrine under a misguided sense of mutual
aid. We must never tempt the Holy Spirit, "tempt" in this regard as the
Church means it. If we cannot uphold the most elemental truth out of
fear of hurting others, how will we become Martyrs when the time comes,
and it is almost upon us, that time, for even now they are calling
traditional Catholics "crazy". As one caller to C-Span said in
reference to Christians,
with no interjection from the host, "Time is coming when these people
must be done away with!" So far I am the only one who has objected that
I know of. America will have its Nero and its Hitler, too, all by
plurality vote and those who will be in the forefront to turn us in to
the authorities? Our fellow modernized, syncretized Catholics.
Christian capos, not Jewish ones. Christ
said: "There is a time coming when they think they will be doing the
work of God to put you to death."
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection
against the wickedness and snares of the Devil, and may God rebuke him,
we humbly pray, and do Thou, O Prince of the
Heavenly Host, by the power
of
God, cast Satan into Hell, and with him all the other evil spirits, who
wander through the world, for the ruin of souls. Amen.
And pray very much for Pope Francis that he might have the veil of
deception lifted from his eyes, his mind, his heart, his soul, before
it is too late for him at all ...
In true charity, in honesty
unparsed,
