Third Glorious Mystery:
The Descent of the Holy Ghost


After the Ascension, the Apostles, together with the Blessed Virgin and disciples, gathered in the upper room in Jerusalem. There they spent their time in prayer. Ten days later, as they were praying, they heard a very loud noise like a strong wind, and there appeared to them tongues of fire, which rested over the head of each one of them. Suddenly they were all filled with the Holy Ghost who granted abundant graces and many heavenly gifts to them. The Apostles became brave and zealous. They went out and preached to the people. Many of these repented of their share in Christ's Crucifixion. Three thousand of them were Baptised after the preaching of St. Peter. So wonderfully can the Holy Ghost transform the hearts of men.

FRUIT OF THE MYSTERY: COMING OF THE HOLY GHOST INTO OUR SOULS

How great is the love of Our God for us! Not only did He give His only-begotten Son for us, but He also sent the Holy Ghost to remain with us till the end of time. We have received the Holy Ghost in the Sacraments of Baptism, Penance, and Confirmation. Just think how many graces we as the Church and individuals get of the Holy Ghost! Whenever you say this third glorious mystery of Rosary, thank God with all your heart for His priceless gift. Do not resist the grace of the Holy Ghost! Obey Him most readily! Pray to Him daily to enlighten and strengthen you.
