THE PRAYERS OF THE ROSARY:

The Sign of the Cross
Apostles' Creed
The Our Father
The Hail Mary
The Glory Be
Fatima Decade Prayer
The Hail Holy Queen

Refer to the diagram above, starting with the Crucifix, going up the chain from there until the beads diverge left and right at the image of Our Lady [the medal on a set of Rosary beads----you will not be saying the prayers on the diagram there, now], and going to the right and up, follow the instructions, going to the top, over to the left and down, finishing at the medal, say the prayers referred to. If you are also seeking the plenary indulgence, you must say 1 Our Father, 1 Hail Mary and 1 Glory Be for the intentions of the Pope, after the Hail Holy Queen.

THE MYSTERIES OF THE ROSARY

As we said in Part 2 -longer explanation, there are 15 decades that make up the entire Rosary, divided into three parts that recall  Our Lord's Life, Passion, and Glory. These are called Mysteries because we can never completely understand them, but they call us to meditate upon them over and over again, because we can always grow deeper in our love of God and Our Lady through them.

The first five mysteries are called the Joyful Mysteries because they brought joy into the hearts of men, showing us the Virgin Mary as Mother of the Child Jesus. The second five are called the  Sorrowful Mysteries because these tell the suffering Our Divine Lord underwent for our Redemption. The last five are the Glorious Mysteries because they present Our Lord in triumph over death, and Our Lady as our Queen, crowned in Heaven. And as we also explained in Part 2, we hold to tradition and only accept additions to the Rosary that came from Our Lady, and this would be the Fatima Decade Prayer recited after each decade. You also read why we attach ourselves to tradition.

The diagram above provides the time table for when the Mysteries are meditated on while reciting the Hail Marys. Christmastide means from Advent until Lent. If you would like to see each Mystery in a traditional image, just click either the forward button below or choose one of the links you see here.
