"If my requests are not granted, Russia will scatter her errors throughout the world, provoking wars and persecutions of the Church. The good will be martyred, the Holy Father will have much to suffer, and various nations will be destroyed!" [Remember, Our Lady told us this in 1917!]

The Papacy and Our Lady of Fatima
Ash Wednesday, 2013

The Papacy, specifically the Holy Roman Pontiff, and Our Lady of Fatima's peace plan and message are intimately woven together. The purpose of this short essay is to apply this urgent request, which has as yet to be granted by the Holy Father, the only person entrusted with its fulfillment, in light of our present Pontiff's resignation at the end of February. Before we begin you are directed to three key links of analysis of the resignation in these perilous times, links that may be temporary but are vital to our purpose and our fuller understanding of the state of the Papacy today in light of the Holy Fathers' failure to comply with Our Lady's appeal --- a necessity, not merely a nicety to be observed --- to the Pope that he have all the bishops of the world unite with him on the same day and time to consecrate Russia [not the world] to her Immaculate Heart. If this is granted as she asked, Russia would be converted and peace would come; if not, our opening citation would come to pass and has happened. Indeed, the Church is undergoing its time of passion. Could this have been avoided? Continued below the listed links.

We begin with some startling quotes from Our Lady in relation to the Church and the Pope:

At Fatima, Our Lady delivered an urgent message for the Church and the world, the first two parts of which were made public in 1917, while the remainder was to be unveiled at a later date. For decades, we Catholics waited with great anticipation, to learn the contents of the sealed Third Secret of Fatima, which was to be revealed publicly by the Pope no later than 1960. [Because Sister Lucy revealed that by that time events would make things clearer.] But when the Secret was suppressed by John XXIII, the disappointment of the faithful was enormous, not the least of which was mine. Soon it became apparent to anyone with the use of reason that something had gone awry in the Vatican and began to be expressed in Catholic circles, and religious editorials.

"In its time in the previous century, the Secret of La Salette had also made its impression on the faithful, as well as Church leaders. This included two popes, who recognized in the words conveyed by the Virgin to two French peasant children, Melanie Calvat and Maximim Giraud, an authentic harbinger of the end times. But this earlier Secret also was effectively stifled." [Cardinal Siri web site.]

"There has always been a definite link between the suppression of the Secret of La Salette by the French hierarchy
and later in succession by the Holy Office, and the quashing of the Third Secret of Fatima by John XXIII in 1960. For, their respective messages, which had the same source, were undoubtedly similar, and thus were met with stiff resistance from the same quarters." [Ibid.]

The Secret of La Salette which essentially melds with that of Fatima:

Approved by Popes Pius IX and Leo XIII, yet virtually concealed for 70 years, the Secret of La Salette read in part:

" . . . The Vicar of my Son will have much to suffer, as, for a time the Church will be the victim of great persecutions: this will be the hour of darkness. The Church will suffer a terrible crisis ...

"The Holy Father will suffer greatly. I will be by his side to the end in order to receive his sacrifice. The wicked will make several attempts on his life but they cannot harm him. But neither he nor his successor [here, Melanie inserted in parentheses the words, 'who will not reign long'] will live to see the triumph of the Church of God ...

"Rome will lose the Faith and become the seat of the Antichrist ...

"The Church will be in eclipse, the world will be in dismay."

[Abbé Paul Gouin, Sister Mary Of The Cross; The Shepherdess Of La Salette, 1981, L'Association Des Enfants De Notre Dame De La Salette & Saint Louis Grignon De Montfort - printed by Billing and Sons Limited, London, pages 66 & 68.]

So we must therefore conclude that, YES! the difficulty as eloquently and succinctly presented by Chris Ferrara in his article --- the second link above --- that the Church is undergoing could and ought to have been avoided. Then by the grace of God the Holy Father would not have perceived that he was powerless, that is,  his possession of full plenary authority and power as the Vicar of Christ was attenuated --- "My authority ends at that door." --- See Ferrara article. Such a statement is positively inexplicable in view of previous pontificates and the disciplinary actions of stalwart Popes, but it does much to explain why Pope Benedict may have thought that he could in no way accomplish the Consecration because of "the wolves" in the Vatican and their influence over many bishops throughout the world, so much so, that the majority of the bishops would not comply and or cooperate.

At the very least the warnings from our Lady at both La Salette and Fatima --- whose supernatural attributes as legitimate apparitions of Our Lady are approved of by Holy Mother Church, coupled with Ven. Pope Pius XII's apocalyptic, prophetic alarm are more relevant and urgent than ever before:

"I am worried by the Blessed Virgin's messages to Lucy of Fatima. This persistence of Mary about the dangers which menace the Church is a divine warning against the suicide of altering the Faith in her liturgy..."

Pius XII, Devant L'Histoire

Certainly this alone should have sufficed for those with the faith and possessing duly constituted authority over Church councils and liturgy to be more cautious during and after Vatican II; the fact that those with dominant power to impose their own implementation of Vatican II chose to ignore or were actually ignorant of Our Lady's foreboding message is evidence aplenty that the failure to heed her message was proof that she meant what she said and in the way she said it literally. All that she warned us about has almost completely come to pass.

To borrow from Mr. Ferrara's incisive, insightful, thus, brilliant article:

"
And what is outside that door?  The wolves in the Pope's own household. The Pope himself confirms a veritable overthrow of the papacy to the extent such is humanly possible. Seen in this light, the Pope's unprecedented discretionary abdication takes on an apocalyptic aspect. And it was Benedict himself who made it a point to link his situation precisely to the apocalyptic Third Secret of Fatima.  During his pilgrimage to Fatima two years ago Benedict revealed what the Secret in its entirety foretells, which is more than what we see in the vision published in 2000 standing alone:

Beyond this great vision of the suffering of the Pope… are indicated future realities of the Church which are little by little developing and revealing themselves.… Thus it is true beyond the moment indicated in the vision, it is spoken, it is seen, the necessity of a passion of the Church that naturally is reflected in the person of the Pope; but the Pope is in the Church, and therefore the sufferings of the Church are what is announced...
As for the novelty that we can discover today in this message, it is that attacks on the Pope and the Church do not come only from outside, but the sufferings of the Church come precisely from within the Church, from sins that exist in the Church. This has always been known, but today we see it in a really terrifying way: that the greatest persecution of the Church does not come from enemies outside, but arises from sin in the Church.
"
In light of these statements one must ask: What does the Pope know that he has been constrained not to tell us?  Why does he speak of terrifying “future realities” that are developing “little by little” without telling us what they are?

As I wrote in THE WORLD AT SUNSET, in 2005:

"As the modern hierarchy in Rome and across the world in general, became more and more anti-traditional-----the latest perfidy being the Vatican statements [not issued as infallible declarations] that a Mass without the words of Consecration as believed and taught for all the ages of the Church in a Mass does not constitute invalidity [a heresy and a blasphemy] and that the Jews are not bound to accept Jesus Christ and His Church for salvation [Ibid.]-----the one check on their complete abdication to the forces of Antichrist, was Sister Lucy, secluded in a convent. She had been ailing for some years. Although the Vatican powers with a modern agenda were able to make use of her virtue of obedience as a nun so that the message of Fatima could be manipulated to suit the purpose in an attempt to still the voices of the faithful, led by the saintly and valiant Fr. Gruner, which called for the Consecration to be done as specifically asked for-----the fact that Lucia was still alive it was necessary for them to reckon that there would always be a possibility that their deeds could be exposed in some manner. So they tread cautiously, yet still abdicating in serial stages to the modern zeitgeist, which culminated in the atrocity of the pagan festivals conducted at Fatima itself with the permission of its rector and apparently its bishop, but which had been preceded by the botched "translation and interpretation" of the Third Secret, also exposed so masterfully by Fr. Gruner and his associates. The Vatican is looking into it because of the outcry of loyal Catholics, but even here we will have to wait to see if anything meaningful and decisively will be done. "Now with Sr. Lucy's death, that check is gone and the enemy within the Vatican is free, in purely human terms, to do and say what they will. The Catholic people, mostly through the poisonous "dogmas" of the New Mass, are so imbued with the spirit of the world and universal salvation that scarcely a third, at least in the English-speaking world, believe in the dogma of the Real Presence or take any interest in the need for mortification to atone for sinful mankind and our own sins. America herself is on the edge of the abyss of the devil's domain. Just as Original Sin was passed onto the children of Adam and Eve and to their children's children [us], so the Church's failure to comply with Our Lady's request has passed onto all of society. There is an old adage, actually a pious belief, that when the Church is holy in its hierarchy and laity, all of society is benefited, even if it does not know or care if it does. And when the Church in its hierarchy and laity is preaching and living another Christ, they are anathema as St. Paul teaches. God so loved us that He was willing to die on the Cross to save us all, but He would have done so to save just one sinner, and still He loves us now. His last mercy before the final descent of the Great Apostasy was the refuge of Our Lady's Immaculate Heart, the first mercy being the refuge of His Sacred Heart, to save sinners, who are "falling like leaves" into Hell. If God wants world-wide recognition and honor to His Mother's Immaculate Heart, well, then He must be obeyed. Heaven is once more opened up to us as He and she beckon down to us with open arms and Hearts, if we would just accept this great gift of love and mercy. No sinner need go to Hell, but Hell-bent we seem to be. What an insult to the infinite goodness of God and to His Holy Mother, apart from the self-imposed unholy nihilism contrary to God's will!

"We know that according to the prophecies of St. Malachy there are but two popes to go before the end. Now, his prophecies are not dogma and no one is obliged to take stock in them under pain of sin, but since he is a Saint and since his other prophecies concerning the papacy have turned out to be accurate, it would be most unwise not to consider his prophecies, in light of the unmistakable evidence of the Great Apostasy world-wide, along with the predications in Scripture of the coming of the end. To at least dismiss these signs of the times outright is fool-hardy. With the aging and declining health of the present Holy Father, we may sooner than we think come face to face with the advent of pure evil unleashed and unchecked. We know that Antichrist will take his seat within the "sanctuary".  The holiest of holies, the Catholic Sanctuary has already been defiled by the blasphemies and sacrilege at many "Masses".

"Some believe the next pope will be worse, some a very good pontiff. We will have to await upon the will of God for the truth about it. I for one am certain of this: that mankind is abandoned by God unless it recognizes, through the Catholic Church, the only true religion, the only ark of salvation, the Reign of Christ the King and the Queen of Heaven and earth, through her Immaculate Heart. Everything else is pure folly ..." [fatima15.htm]

My dear visitors and regular patrons, I know that you always pray for the Holy Father and will continue to do so after he is retired to the Vatican monastery to devote his life to prayer. We must pray very much for the coming Pontiff, that he will be holy, valiant, and resolute. That he will at last heed Our Lady and accomplish her and Heaven's express will in the matter of the Consecration, so that many souls will be saved, there will be a period of real peace in the world, and the Church will once more adhere to Sacred Tradition in all of its Sacraments and the pronouncements from the Holy See.

I do not know if the prophecy of St. Malachy concerning the Pontiffs is accurate, that is, Heaven sent, or not or if so, perhaps incomplete and that after the name of the last Pope he provides in his prophecy, that of Peter the Roman, whether the final and last Pope or to be succeeded by another, that one of these Popes will do the Consecration; Our Lady promised that it "would be late" but the Pope would accomplish her request in the end. Let this be but a beginning, from Passiontide to Resurrection, the resurrection of our beleaguered, but beloved Church.
