This Mystical Rose Statue wept in a
chapel in Brooklyn, New York, Friday,
May 18, 1984, often copiously, and for weeks afterwards. Like the Rosa
Mystica statue that wept in Chicago in June of the same year, this
statue
came from Montichiari, Italy, where the original Rosa Mystica statue of
this type originated some years ago. To the photographer of this
statue,
the tears tased salty and imperceptily sweet. His efforts to wipe away
the tears dripping from her cheek chin, repeatedly sponging them, only
resulted in new tears welling up in the eyes.
