MADONNA AND SAINTS

BANNER

Gallery, Section Two
This painting is sometimes referred to as The Madonna of the Decemviri because it was commissioned by the College of the Decemviri or The Council of Ten for their chapel in the Palazzo dei Priori. Subsequently it was sent to France, then returned in 1816 to Pope Pius VII who had it placed in the Vatican Picture Gallery 4 four years later.
