Saint
Syrus of Pavia
Bishop
and Martyr
1st Century
December 9
Very little is known about him, but
Tradition says that he is identified as the young boy who brought bread
and fish to Jesus on the Mount for the miracle of the Loaves and
Fishes. St. Peter accompanied him to Italy, where our Saint became the
first Bishop of Pavia. His Feast is December 9, in the Martyrology,
although how and where he was Martryred is not known.
The above image is the most
precious of the few depictions that exist.
There is another Sainted
Bishop named Syrus, but he was from Genoa in the 4th century.
