Saint Julian of
Toledo, Bishop He was born about the year 620 and died seventy
years later. His parents were of Jewish heritage, although Catholics;
after he was Baptized they had him educated in the cathedral, which he
entered as a young boy, becoming an oblate. After he finished his
studies he was ordained, serving as a diocesan priest, eventually
elected bishop, performing his duties with great zeal, courage, and
yes, discretion; he was most devoted to the poor. Our Saint was a copious writer, leaving many
works. In art he is usually depicted in his episcopal garments,
sometimes with a basket of bread for the poor. His Latin name is
derived from a Roman family named Julia. HOME---------------PRAYERS AND DEVOTIONS-----------------LITANIES www.catholictradition.org/Saints/saints4-8.htm |
