ASSUMPTION

   Fourth Glorious Mystery:
The Assumption
BAR

Our Lady remained on earth for a few years after the Ascension of her Son. She was the comforter and helper of the Apostles. But she yearned to be reunited with her Son. When she did die, her immaculate body did not decay. Mary had been free from Original Sin; she was safe from this punishment. Therefore after her death, by God's power, her lifeless body was reunited with her soul and taken with triumph into Heaven, accompanied by a host of Angels. Our Lady's body had been so honoured a temple of the Holy Ghost, it could not stay in the clay of a grave.

The Assumption of Mary is a dogma of Faith.

FRUIT OF THE MYSTERY: PREPARATION FOR A GOOD DEATH THOUGH TENDER DEVOTION TO MARY

Consider the happy death of Mary. Earth was to her a place of exile. Her life had been spent only for her Son Jesus. She had worked and suffered in fullest service to Him. Therefore, it was with supreme joy that she saw the time coming near when her Divine Son would call her to Himself. Remember that the closer you follow the example of your heavenly Mother, the more will your death be like hers. Hence, like her, detach your heart from this world, live for Jesus alone, devote yourself to His service, labor and suffer willingly for Him.
