THE JESUS PSALTER
Begin by kneeling devoutly,
or bowing, at the adorable Name of Jesus, saying: THE SECOND PART FOURTEENTH PETITION
hee. Stop the wanderings of my mind, and the desires of a fickle heart; suppress the power of my spiritual enemies, who endeavor at that time to draw me away from Thee, thinking of Thee, and loving Thee.
So shall I, with joy and gratitude, look upon Thee as my deliverer from all evil, and as my benefactor for all the good I have ever received, or can hope for. I shall see that Thou art my only good, and that all other things are but means, ordained by Thee, to bring me to fix my mind on Thee, to make me love Thee more and more, and by loving Thee, to be happy eternally. O Beloved of my soul, sanctify all my thoughts on earth that my eyes may become worthy to behold Thee face to face in Thine glory for ever. Have mercy
also on the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for Thy
bitter Passion, I beseech Thee, and for Thy glorious Name, Jesus.
